Life is full of surprises. Like the kind of surprises that should seem obvious, but for some reason catch us off guard; we react like a five year old opening a Jack-in-the-Box for the millionth time! Our eyes pop, our minds blown, full of shock and awe, when really we should have seen it coming all along.
I recently had this feeling about LA. I was sitting deep in conversation when, out of the blue, I felt as if I were waking up, coming out of deep sleep, my eyes opening in wonder at the world around me.
If you had asked me two years ago where I wanted to be in the world it would have been New York or Paris, hell I would have even moved to Denver over LA... but now! Now, I wouldn't trade it for the world.
The people I am surrounded by, the life I choose to live, the freedom and opportunity... I so often forget just how lucky we (Drew and I) are.
A friend once told me, "Be where you are" and Ghandi once said, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." These two things, these two simple ideas are so easily lost. The beauty is, when we stumble back upon them they take us by surprise, our eyes opening in wonder at the world we get to live in.
Go. Be. The world is waiting.
