Continuing on in the spirit of gift giving, I have put together a list of things that will keep the holidays alive long after the celebrations have dwindled and normal life has once again settled into our bones.
Have you ever considered giving the gift of subscription or membership? Giving someone a subscription based gift is always risky, but if you stalk their pinboards long enough, you can get a better idea of their interests and wants and base your purchase off of those indicators (are they a foodie? A product junky? A gym rat? A nerd?). In fact, last Christmas Drew and I created a sharedGift Board, emailed it to our families, we could each see what the other person was wanting as well which was fantastic. We received gifts we not only wanted, but things we needed! I told several friends about this style of “gifting” and they are now huge fans of pinspiration gift boards for themselves and their families (do it, it works, that way you can avoid the unwanted underwear fiasco that happens every year, without fail).
First on my list is Olive Box. A goody box filled with paper and lifestyle products for you to create, be inspired by, and decorate with. There are usually note pads or cute cards, confetti, washi tape or bakers twine in the most adorable colors and styles. This is perfect for the crafter or diy obsessed person in your life.
If you know some one who loves products but tends to spend too much on the full size before trying them out, get them Birch Box . This service provides sample sizes of the latest and greatest in all thing beauty right to your door each and every month! It is super affordable and a great way to find what works best for you. Not to mention it’s a great tool for the world traveler who needs things under 3oz for their carry on.
-Must Have by PopSugar-
The Must Have Box by Popsugar is like Birch Boxes big sister. It is a similar service, though slightly more expensive. It contains full size products instead of only sample size and even comes in a LUX Mens addition! Gotta love a well groomed man.
Glossy Box also features beauties best minitures. The cool thing about their box is that you can create a profile and customize the type of content you would like in the box each month. Think of it as a personal touch.
As mentioned before I have a strong love affair with coffee. One of my favorite coffee houses from home is now offering Regular Coffee, a subscription service that will deliver your specified amount of coffee beans to your door whenever you want them. Not only is it brilliant, it is delicious!
For that person who is cultured and would like to get stimulation from content rather than caffeine Monocle Magazine is the perfect gift. It has some of the best writing I have ever read in a magazine publication, not to mention clever and well designed. It is a bit pricey for a full subscription, but being a subscriber does have its perks so I highly suggest looking into it.
Kinfolk is a newer publication that focuses on the beauty of community centered around simple, lovely gatherings. The photography is divine and the recipes are inspired. I highly recommend this for the craft entertainer, the person who gets joy out of the simple things, and finds beauty in the gathering.
-Port and Esquire-
For the gents in your life Port Magazine would do quite nicely. It has great articles, wonderful photography, and shies away from the usual mens magazine focus on T & A, however, if you are into that go for Esquire, equally well written but a little more risque.
There is always the option of a gym member ship or a month of yoga unlimited at their favorite yogi studio. For these gifts be sure to casually bring it up in conversation, get a few more specifics and make sure they will actually use them. Same goes for spa gifts, such as massages or facials, they are amazing presents, but if the person is anything like me, they will forget they have or fail to activate the membership. However, gifts for the body and soul are equally as important, so do you your snooping well.
The beauty of the subscription or membership is that you can purchase as many months as you would like, creating a gift that keeps on giving! So go ahead, roll up those sleeves, put on your Santa cap, do some Pinterest stalking, make your selections and then sit back and smile; you have done well, the proof is in the pudding… er, rather, in the gifting.
