There are words in the English language that just give me the creeps. These words seem to make my skin crawl, causing goose bumps on a hot summers day. They leave me wishing I could un-hear things or perhaps that I were able to tune out at the moment they were released out of the mouth from whence they came… They should be avoided like a bad nose job or the plague. Words such as (but not limited to):
Moist- even if you are talking about cake (ACTUAL CAKE) it makes me feel weird
Crotch (don’t use that in reference to the space in between your fingers, I beg of you)
Lactaide- equally as bazar as lactate, but even more so because it is in regards to a product that neutralizes the effects of lactose…
… Really medical phrasing for any body part/function, usually make me feel weird.
Here’s the thing… I realize there are times where these words are, perhaps, needed. Slipped into conversation like a good curse word, but some how these words seem to leave a worse taste in your mouth.
Say what you need to, phrase it how you may, but if I cringe while we are speaking I promise it isn’t you… it’s me.
