In an era filled with infinite resources for inspiration and unlimited places to find the next “great” thing, it is hard to have a clear vision for what you want. We all have ideas and in fact some of us might stick to our ideas, but I will bet you somewhere in the middle your resolution wavered and you wanted to change everything; then again maybe its just me.
At any rate, whether it’s planning a wedding, building a home, decorating your apartment or simply getting dressed, our options seem endless and it will make a once seemingly simple task take far more time than it should. However, that being said, if you are like me, you (to the detriment of those around you) kind of enjoy the endless options and chaos that they create.
Moving into a new apartment is like staring at a blank canvas, clean, vast, and daunting, the vacant space begs to be filled. Turning the empty cavernous shell of our new place into a home will be a challenge, but one I look forward to.
Pinterest is my anchor, keeping me from saving too many links in folders that I would for get about on my laptop, it allows me to keep inspiration all in once place. As the boards fill up, images stand out, and I gain a greater sense for the home that Drew and I are hoping to have. The tricky part is how to afford it all. Given that we are newly weds and young professionals our budget isn’t as ample as we would like it, but we are determined to make it work. Our current plan is to stick with the basics, save up for the good stuff, and splurge on the things we want to last (just like a good wardrobe).
We sold or gave away a lot of our home items before the move to LA to keep things light, now the challenge will be in replacing them. Lets start with the kitchen shall we? To keep it cohesive I stuck with amazing piece from West Elm for inspiration (just in time for their launch/grand opening ofWest Elm Market). As you know I love to cook and not having a good set up has been driving me crazy, I have a few nice piece left, my cast iron, good cutting boards, and colanders, but the rest is a wash of random odds and ends. This list is lengthy, but oh so beautiful. Enjoy.
