Last thursday I dared you to see all the good inside yourself. Today I dare you to face yourself (perhaps I will start a new hashtag called #thoughtfulthursdays what do you think?).
Today I want us to all take a minute to think about the person we are vs. the person we pretend to be. Who we feel we are inside vs. the version of ourselves that we project into the world. We hide, we cover, we tweak things about ourselves to fit situations and our surroundings... we lay the true versions of ourselves face down and hope no one notices our faults and imperfections.
Today I am going to sit and write a list of the qualities I poses; the truths within myself. I will write out the good and the bad, my strengths and weaknesses. Building the ground work towards accepting myself and loving myself so that I may accept and love others. This means working towards seeing myself as I actually am... Choosing to see who we really are can be a terrifying prospect. It is far easier to ignore or burry the things we don't like about ourselves, hiding our dark and twisty sides away (because who would love us if they actually knew us?). We build unhealthy habits out of shame and fear. The beautiful truth, which I am currently learning, is that if we are willing to be vulnerable, to face ourselves fully, we will find greater connection than we ever thought possible.
So will you join me? We have nothing to loose, life is beautiful and precious and it ought to be fully lived, and how can you fully live if you aren't fully yourself?
*True story, my friend Francesca and I found this poor barbie face down in the parking lot while we were walking to set the other day! How amazing is that!?
