You guys, it is once again confession time…
About two months ago I was sitting pool side at the Ace in Palm Springs with the absolute babest of babes (fellow members of the GHC). While sipping cocktails and quoting youtube videos (like ya do), a certain teen drama was brought up in conversation.
Now, I used to watch the aforementioned teen drama a few years ago when it came out. I even picked the show up once again when it made it to Netflix and I needed a distraction from wedding prep (seriously though at that point I would have watched anything to distract me from the cascading yardage of muslin piled in my living room), but for some reason I would always forget to watch… not because it wasn’t good, it was, but because I can only handle so much drama in my life and at that time my reality was enough for me to deal with.
Once returning home from this jaunt to paradise I decided to give the show a go, I mean, how bad could it be? I used to watch One Tree Hill for crying out loud (CMC for life though)! I pulled my nail polish out of the closet, prepped a snack, sat on the sofa, and pressed play, thus sealing my fate.
I CAN’T STOP!
I’m not going to say I am an addict… I really don’t have exponential amounts of time to… ok, is it so bad that I like having background noise while I work?! Geeeeeeze! Listen, if I want judgement I will go to my grandparents (too far?).
Ok, here we go… the show is… you know what… do you really need to know? Must I tell you EVERYTHING? I suppose if we are going by true confessional standards then yes, yes I do… but what if we bend the rules? Just this once, what could it hurt?
FINE. It’s Gossip Girl. There… are you happy?
I realize that the premis of the show is rather trite but, lets be honest, we all need our guilty pleasures and GG is the perfect place to start (not to mention Chuck Bass).
Here’s the thing, I’m not even ashamed, I just feel like I should be. The thing is, once I embraced my identity as a GG watcher, I was overwhelmed by the number of people who were also in love with the show (and Chuck Bass).
And so I say it, loud and proud. I LOVE GOSSIP GIRL, and there’s nothing you can do about it (at least until I run out of episodes).
