I have a confession... I LOVE GIVING GIFTS! Like... LOVE giving gifts. Not just any old 'oh here' type gifts, but well thought out, designed for the receiver type gifts. That being said, you would think this time of year would be down right blissful for me... WRONG, it is torture! (ok, I do love it, but also, it is mental overload!)
I spend hours scouring peoples pin boards, months doing recon work trying to surreptitiously find out the desires of their hearts without ever having to ask. I take gift giving very seriously (probably too seriously), I want to give people things they want, need, and desire. But then...
The inevitable happens.
The gremlins creep in and tell me that I don't really know anyone, my gifting skills are terrible, and I will end up over thinking it and give the giftee something they couldn't care less about.
DUN DUN DUNNNNNNN....
Ok. The gremlins can GTFO because they are liars and I am over their negativity. The reality is cheesy and if you are sick of my "mom rants" stop reading now. BUT the truth is- this time of year is about people not presents. It is about spending time, finding the magic of the holidays through togetherness. YES, gifts are a nice way of showing someone you love just how much you care, but also, a coffee date or dinner party goes a long way to show them the same.
I'm not saying I won't get you a gift, don't worry... but I am saying it may be something simple, something that made me think of you... something to simply let you know, I love you.
How are you dealing with the gifting gremlins? Do share with the class, we all need as much help as we can get.
***HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE***
*I love wrapping gifts almost as much as I love giving them... And I love finding fun ideas for how to wrap them, thanks internet.
