I stumbled across the most amazing quote by Grace Coddington the other day , “Always keep your eyes open. Keep watching. Because whatever you see can inspire you.” How good is that!? How inspiring is she! (If you don’t know who she is, stop reading this and go purchase a copy of her biography and watch The September Issue… go on, I will wait)
On the day to day, everything can seem so normal or mundane, rather, you know, grey and flat. It is sad really. It is as if blinders have been placed on our heads so that we can only see the two dimensional world we perceive at first glance. But what if, we remove the blinders and gaze at the world for the thing of beauty that it is?
Even the things once thought to be ‘average’ become so much more; undergoing a metamorphosis, unfolding wings dripping in color, delicate, breathless and beautiful. It is strange how a sign your have seen a million times can suddenly strike you, stopping you in your tracks for a moment to gaze at the lines scrolled across the old brick wall. Or how you can look at the sky every single day for your whole life without realizing how amazing it is; clouds floating across the vast expanse of infinite blue, the sun rising in a burst of shimmering rays and setting in a melting ocean of color.
Inspiration comes through music, art, books, movies, the internet, the park, the playground, the city, and the country side. Inspiration bathes the world we live in, we just have to open our eyes.
