You know that feeling you get after traveling? Not jetlag or fatigue, but that feeling of just wanting to get back to yourself. I don’t know how else to describe it. It’s not as if you lost yourself while traveling, more so that you loose your habits and routines, the things that give you flow and rhythm.
For me, this tends to mean I stop working out (mostly stop, I go stir crazy if I don’t get a little workout time in) and my clean eating habits get thrown out the window. It’s vacation! Go crazy, enjoy yourself, and when you go home put your booty in gear and get back on the healthy habit bandwagon (or, maybe, just be better than you were while you were away).
-GREENS ON GREENS-
What you will need:
2-3 cups (2 big handfulls!) Fresh Spinach
1 Apple, cut into pieces
1 Small to Medium Banana, peeled
2 Medium chunks Pineapple
Juice from 1 Lemon
1 cup Water
4-5 Ice Cubes
*Optional (I prefer this but was out) Sub half of the Spinach for a good heaping amount of Kale! Also frozen Green Grapes are a great addition for a little brightness in flavor and added sweetness.
Pour water into your blender or Vitamix, add Spinach (and Kale if you have it), add apple, banana, pineapple, and lemon juice. Blend on high for 2-3 minutes until smooth and well blended (only about 1 minute in the Vitamix).
This blend is nutrient rich and rather filling! One batch makes 2-3 full glasses.
I’m not going to pretend that Drew and I don’t still go out and eat terrible food (truffle fries any one!?), but I will say keeping a clean diet as much as possible at home certainly makes the guilt of indulging a little more tolerable.
Happy juicing! Your insides will thank you.
