Laughter rings, like a thousand glimmering coins falling to the ground, leaping, dancing, and free. It sings off the walls, echoing, waking your spirit from it’s slumber.
The world is alive, bright, and brilliant. Can you see it? The waves that rush the shore; giving us life, flooding our spirits in cascading sheets of turquoise. The darkness washed away, replaced by pools of euphoric sunlight.
Release. Body and soul unwind, a spool of string loosed in the wind. Harmony floats in the cloudless sky. If only for a moment. The great scholar and philosopher, Jean Houston once said, “At the height of laughter, the universe is flung into a kaleidoscope of new possibilities.”
Laughter is a life giving, soul healing, force in the world and far too often we allow for the darkness, the fear and anxieties of daily life, to crush our spirits. Laughter lifts us out of the caverns of our minds, it brings a smile our lips, and mends our hearts. It saves us from the dark and twisty versions of ourselves.
At the risk of sounding cliche (don’t worry I am making fun of myself for this one, so put the judgement away), I would encourage (gah! I know, I gagged just now) you to find something to laugh about today. Watch your favorite sitcom, listen to a comedy podcast, talk to a friend you find particularly funny or better yet, go watch cat videos or screaming goats on youtube, I am a sucker for that shit (there we go, back to sounding like myself).
My wish for you would be, that you have a moment every day where you find yourself wrapped in laughter. It doesn’t have to be big, it can be small, silent even, but it should fill your spirit and spill out into the world; joining in with the thousands of coins as they echo.
