When you think of the king of ”american junk food” what do you think of? (After hamburgers… after french fries…no not potato chips…ok… that was a terrible hint, allow me to start over). PIZZA is, with out a doubt, an icon. Not only does it combine all things magical (that I can’t eat) , bread, cheese, oodles of toppings, it also manages to transcend all realms of food-dom! There is breakfast pizza, cold pizza for lunch, regular pizza, vegan pizza, deep dish pizza, chicago style, new york style, and dessert pizza… also late night snack pizza if you are feeling twirly. It is, hands down, delicious, and almost never a bad idea (they even make pizza for defectives like me now, it is magical).
Do you know what the trave equivalent of Pizza is (or should be)? The correct answer is the iconic road trip, but if you answered any form of travel, you would also be correct.
Some dear friends of mine are starting out this week on an amazing adventure to piece the slices of America together, because (to paraphrase their idea), if America is a pizza, how many slices have we all eaten? Not nearly enough! And thus, PIZZAMERICA was born!
Fairfax, Bethany and Mae (a couple others too I do believe) are, as we speak (read, whatever, listen your sarcasm really needs to cool it), driving from Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Los Angeles (you know where that is so I won’t waste my breath), stopping to devour the country as they go, and reporting their adventures back here. Brilliant right?
Be a peach, give them a shout and tell them where to get a good slice in your neck of the woods wont you?
I will be honest, my friends are the coolest, don’t get jealous, they will be your friend too… but only if you ask real nice.
