I have a thing for snacks... ok fine, I have a 'thing' for food in general but there is something about snack foods, ya know?
I personally believe snack brands market their products like forbidden fruit, "you shouldn't want this BUT YOU CAN'T RESIST!", they make them tempting and delicious and full of all the best things (aka sugar- i.e. cookie snacks and crunch, i.e. CHIPS!). Snacking is so wrong that it's right and I just can't seem to resist the urge to pop open a bag of chips and dip them into hummus (to be fair I also include a hefty dose of raw veggies in the mix, BUT if marketing and advertising agencies have taught us anything it is that vegetables aren't sexy, so I won't be including them in this post... fully).
Today I want to talk to you about two of my favorite 'snack' foods at the present moment (aside from the holy grail- the avocado). These two items are as close as I get to 'processed food' because, lets face it, my stomach would revolt if I tried to eat a bag of Chili Cheese Fritos like I so desperately want to and they are very possibly the most perfect snack combo known to man. I am referring to Beanfeilds chips (my sub for a corn tortilla chip... confession- DREW LIKES THEM BETTER THAN TORTILLA CHIPS!) and Majestic Garlic Sprouted Hummus, the most perfect sesame free (allergen free) hummus of all time.
Why? You may be wondering. Why these two things. WELL, for starters, the chips were a happy accidental purchase this past spring; now I buy far too many bags of them and feel like I am single handedly supporting their entire (family run) operation. They are perfectly crunchy and made from BEANS (hence the name) and they make amazing nachos (I use the plain sea salt flavor for that) AND they curb my craving for something crunchy (apparently I am into crunch food... this one time, I did a cleanse and ALL I wanted was a tortilla chip... just one); that is to say, how could you not love them?! Now, the hummus deserves a round of applause all on it's own, no really... It is a 6 time Americas Best Food Award winner (6 TIME) and brings me to tears of joy every time I crack the lid open. Raw cauliflower, peppers, carrots, and cucumbers dance and sing as you dip them into the silky smooth surface and pop their crunchy stems into your mouth, you think I am kidding... I'm not.
Now that I have explained myself you are probably thinking, "Why is she telling us this? Have I been duped? Is this one of those 'sponsored' posts?" The answer is no, you have not been duped, nor is this a sponsored post (THOUGH I WISH IT WERE, Beanfeilds, MG, show me some love) I am just fan-girling over my snack time faves and I thought you should be too.
Happy snacking everyone! May your week be as tasty as mine ;)
