I, once again, have a confession to make, another love affair to declare, and this one I was far less excepting of. I… am currently obsessed (and have been for sometime, ask Nichole and Adeshola, they are just as involved as I am in this scandal) with wedge sneakers. I’m not proud of it, I realize they are merely shoes and therefore… Ok, I can’t even continue with that sentence. Who am I kidding, I LOVE shoes! I am a woman, it is ingrained in my DNA.
Shame? Maybe I should feel you, but I don’t.
This love affair first started two years ago, when I discovered the Isabel Marant wedge sneaker that made all other shoes fade in comparison. They were sleek, puffy, well designed and comfortable! Could it be? Are these the perfect shoe? Every celebrity was soon spotted in these street style gems, quickly cementing the look a place in fashion and trend.
If I am going to buy into a trend that is so niche I want to make sure it’s something that I love and will wear on the regular. I considered purchasing the Maddens or even a pair from Nasty Gal, but the cost was still steep enough for me to hesitate. Not that they are that expensive, but this girl has a lot of other purchases that take a more prominent role, so the shoes took the back burner. I have worn my new sneakers on multiple occasions since they entered my life and I have gotten more compliments on those little sneaks then I have on a pair of $300 booties I bought for a party a while back.
Where do I draw the line? It starts with a pair of shoes or a jacket and the next thing you know your purchasing attire from Walmart! Sweet Jesus I hope that never happens.
What about you? Where do you draw the line?
