There are times in our lives when we look up at the sky and think, "Why?! Why me? Why today? WHY NOW!?"
There are times in our lives when all we need is the sun on our face and the heavens decide to be overcast and grey for the 120th day in a row.
There are times we are afraid, when we don't understand, when we look at our futures and can't predict the outcome.
As I stood on the pier, staring out at a deep, angry ocean, I watched tourists trot across the old wooden beams in their shorts and flip flops. The sky was grey and clouds threatened to descend onto the beach below for early springtime nap. I was cold in my denim and leather standing on the dock, I could not fathom how all those people were (willingly) getting onto the roller coaster and ferris wheel. "Why are you all here?!" I thought, "It is terrible out today!" (I was there for work, I had a valid excuse... also I was dressed for the weather, miss thing in her floral mini dress was not).
I realized later that night that sometimes days don't go as we plan, things don't work as we would like them to, but learning to (as Nike says) just do it and go with the flow is crucial to maintaining a good quality of life.
As I prepare to leave, this is something I dwell upon. My days will not be my own for the next... who knows how long, my time, my feelings, everything will be in flux. Learning to roll with the punches and LET GO is probably the best thing I can do. This is what I think about when I meditate, this is where my heart goes.
What do you do when things don't go according to plan?
