We spend our whole lives talking about where we are and where we want to go...
From womb to tomb it is all about getting somewhere. We crawl, we scoot, we stand, we wobble, and eventually, we walk (we become mobile and taste independence). We run, we chase, we push. We go from pre-k, to kindergarden, through grade school, high school, university, into our careers, forever and ever as long as we both shall live (craving independence). We are contractually tied to societies depiction of what our life "should be". It is crazy when you actually think about it.
Culture (in art and entertainment) has long fostered the idea of going away, getting out of our circumstances, taking ourselves out of where we are, rebelling against the status quo, pushing back so that we may find where we actually want to be, so why don't we follow Rihannas advice and-
Where would you go if you could go anywhere? Who would you be if you could be anything? What is stopping you? These questions are terrifying but so liberating. If we never question ourselves, our lives, how will we ever actually LIVE!?
This ties into what we are hanging on to like I was talking about yesterday... I suppose I am just in a rather introspective place this week. The start of a new year always makes me look at my life, look at the year that has passed and think, "Ok, what do I want to change?". It may feel like you are going to have an anxiety attack at first but once you get past the palpitations, the whole process is so exhilarating. Your life is yours for the taking! How amazing!
