It’s strange to think about my craft and decor life pre-washi. In retrospect I see it all so clearly… my letters were so lack luster without washi sealing them shut, my walls so void of imagery and my gift wrapping down right dull. You may not understand the importance of washi, I certainly didn’t, but once you get your hands on a role of that soft, tacky, decorative tape, you will never turn back. The colors, patterns, widths, and styles endless. Shopping for washi is like putting a kid in a candy store, you want all of them!
I know how pathetic I sound, it’s just tape… but you guys, it is tape that brings people joy. When I send a letter now, I seal it shut with washi, so that the person opening it on the other end will know how much I care. Photos now hang lovingly on my wall, secured with the gentle, non-marking touch of washi… and my gifts! they sing and shimmer with their decorative washi closures. You think I’m kidding? I’m not.
Here are some other washi freaks for you liking, demonstrating all of the fun things that you can make better with a little piece of tape.
Design Sponge just so happens to be one of my favorite DIY/everything blogs. They have about a million posts feature Washi Tape and this one of DIY washi picture frames was a rather inventive and intense usages of washi. Puts the fun in functional, am I right?! (Please take note, if you haven’t realized by now that I am being a rather cheeky bugger in this post you fail and should stop reading my work… see there? I did again)
Need a place to store makeup brushes or odds and ends? Why not take an old pasta sauce jar, scrub it up, take the label off, tape it in washi, and viola! You have a gloriously cute little storage jar that can hold anything you like and look fabulous while doing so.
